The Department of Interventional Radiology is a rapidly evolving medical specialty that offers innovative minimally invasive treatment options for patients who were traditionally deemed not surgical candidates. Our board-certified interventional radiologists at WHMC utilize state-of-the-art equipment to perform procedures in our updated GE angiography suite. Using fluoroscopy, as well as other imaging modalities, including US and CT, they navigate small devices such as catheters (tubes) down the arteries and veins of the body to treat various disorders across all organ systems. Our interventional radiologists are clinical specialists who are also well versed in diagnostic radiology. They strongly adhere to best practice principles, including evidence-based medicine and following Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) guidelines.

    • Uterine artery embolization for management of symptomatic uterine fibroids
    • Gonadal vein embolization for treatment of pelvic congestion syndrome
    • Venous stenting for May-Turner Syndrome

    • Kyphoplasty procedure for symptomatic osteoporotic fractures
    • Interventional pain management: nerve blocks, joint steroid injections, epidural injections
  • Image guided biopsies and drainages: venous interventions
