Departments / Hematology & Oncology/Outpatient Chemotherapy

Welcome to the Department of Hematology and Oncology at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. Our dedicated team consists of two physicians, three nurses, a cancer care coordinator, and clerical staff. We are proud to serve the community by providing innovative and compassionate treatment for a wide range of cancers and hematological disorders.

Our physicians are board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology, and are experts in providing comprehensive treatment and supportive care services for benign blood disorders and all cancer types including, but not limited to:

  • Breast Cancer
  • Colorectal Cancer
  • Gastrointestinal and Liver Cancers
  • Head and Neck Cancers
  • Hematologic Cancers (all lymphomas, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndrome)
  • Lung Cancer
  • Prostate and Urologic Cancers
  • Reproductive and Skin Cancers

Cancer care at WHMC is unique in that every aspect of a patient’s care is managed entirely by the department’s doctors. This includes developing a treatment plan, writing chemotherapy orders, managing side effects, ordering imaging, arranging referrals or procedures, and returning patient phone calls. Unlike larger institutions, our team does not use a nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or resident physicians. Patients can be assured that they are evaluated and treated only by their physician at every single visit.

Patients and family members meet with a department physician for an initial consultation, at which time they receive a personalized treatment plan catered to their diagnosis and specific needs. We work with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons and a radiation oncologist to provide the highest quality of care to each patient, as recommended by the National Comprehensive Cancer Care Network (NCCN) guidelines. Our highly skilled nurses are certified by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) for the administration of all cancer specific infusions. Patients receive treatment in our newly renovated infusion center in a comfortable and relaxing environment. Our cancer care coordinator assists patients in navigating their treatment journey by providing resources to assist with insurance coverage, transportation, home-care services, among other services.
