The Endocrinology Department at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center provides comprehensive care for patients suffering from endocrine problems, osteoporosis, or diabetes.

The Endocrine Clinic cares for patients with diseases of the glands such as thyroid, pituitary, or adrenal, and also addresses calcium problems. The care of these patients is coordinated with ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeons, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and urologists who are trained to do laparoscopic surgery. Patients with cholesterol issues and other lipid abnormalities are also treated in coordination with cardiology and the diabetes care center.

The Osteoporosis Clinic is dedicated to the care of patients with osteoporosis. State-of-the-art equipment is used to detect osteoporosis, and special blood and urine tests are run in order to determine the cause of osteoporosis whenever possible and appropriate.

Our comprehensive Diabetes Care Center provides total care for patients suffering from diabetes. Board certified specialists take care of your diabetes and complications that you may develop due to this disease. We work closely with other specialists for diabetic patients who have kidney disease, foot problems, eye diseases, and vascular problems of the legs, leg numbness, and leg pain. Heart specialists take care of heart disease due to diabetes. Several specialists may see the patient during one visit. If necessary, patients may be referred to other specialists at a later date to address additional medical issues.

A dietician is available during your visit and separately to help you with what and how much you should eat.

A diabetes educator nurse is a highly trained nurse who is responsible for educating patients with diabetes, teaching a patient and family members insulin injection techniques as well home blood sugar and urine testing. These specialized nurses also help patients understand their blood sugar testing machines and are available in the Diabetes Care Center to help patients manage their diabetes.
