Hospital Billing

Patients admitted to the hospital (inpatients) will receive separate invoices for some services. Your hospital bill will include charges for your room, food, medical supplies and services, and any tests or procedures that you undergo, including X-rays.

Patients seen in the Emergency Room, a clinic or other outpatient setting may receive separate invoices for some services. Your Emergency Room, clinic or outpatient bill will include charges for the use of the facility and any tests or procedures done at the time of your appointment. For scheduling reasons, some tests or procedures may be performed at a later date and will be billed separately from your outpatient or clinic invoice.

Physician Bill

Some physicians and physician groups may send you separate invoices that include the cost of medical or surgical care as well as costs involving review and interpretation of your diagnostic tests. For example, you might receive a bill from the radiologist who reads your X-ray. In addition, patients seen at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center may receive invoices from hospital-based physicians like anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, pathologists, as well as from private community physicians.

Payment Plans

We recommend that you contact your insurance payer before any hospital, clinic or physician office visit to find out what is covered under your plan and whether you will be responsible for any part of the payment. If you are not able to pay your account in full, we can help you with a payment plan. And, if you are unable to pay for necessary medical care, you may qualify for financial assistance.

Financial Assistance

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center has a policy to assist patients who receive health care services at our hospital and are in need of financial assistance, regardless of age, gender, race, national origin, socio-economic or immigrant status, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. 

If you are unable to pay for necessary medical care, you may qualify for financial assistance. Wyckoff Heights Medical Center can assist qualified patients.

  • Residents of New York State may qualify for Charity Care/Financial Assistance for medically necessary emergency services. Residents of Wyckoff Heights Medical Center’s primary service area may qualify for Charity Care/Financial Assistance for medically necessary non-emergency services. 
  • Patients with income of less than 300% of the federal poverty level may be eligible for Charity Care/Financial Assistance and may qualify for nominal payments or discounted rates, depending on family size and household income. Installment payment plans are available. 
  • Charity Care/Financial Aid eligibility will be determined upon completion of a Charity Care/Financial Assistance application. 
  • The Policy does not apply to physicians or other providers who independently bill for their services.


Generally, patients will be encouraged to first apply for applicable insurance programs, such as Workers Compensation and No-fault insurance, and publicly subsidized health insurances (i.e., Medicaid, Family Health Plus, Child Health Plus, Prenatal Care Assistance Program)
