The physician treats pediatric patients who present to the Pediatric Emergency Room and makes sure that the patient being attended to is first of all stabilized before the commencement of further treatment.

Stabilization of the patient must be done as fast as possible with the available resources, information about the patient and examination of the patient in every given situation.

The physician carries out timely evaluation and management of emergency patients that are brought in for treatment.

The physician works simultaneously with staff from the Emergency department and compliant facility

The physician maintains and keeps all medical records

The physician performs emergency procedures and treatments within the scope of practice

The physician performs interpretation of diagnostic tests within the scope of practice and reviews all medical reports concerning patients

The physician provides instructions for discharge for patients

The physician appropriately uses of other available personal, supervises residents, physician assistants, and medical students assigned to the ED.

Requirements: Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge for Emergency Room Physician Role

The physician must be trained and be Board Certified/eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine or have experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and be Board Certified in Pediatrics.

The physician must have excellent communication skills

The physician must be ready at all times to handle any given emergency situation.

The physician must show understanding and support to patients in emergency situations

The physician must have good organizational skills and good decision-making ability under pressure

The physician must possess good interpersonal skills

The physician should be able to work as part of a team and lead the team if needed be
