In today’s world of healthcare services, heart failure and related cardiac events are considered to be of the highest order and the healthcare challenge that afflicts and impacts the lives of the greatest number of patients with the most severity. Within the spectrum of cardiac health and successful recovery, cardiac rehabilitation is one of the most critical elements for a successful return to a normal life.
Cardiac rehabilitation increases the quality of life and decreases healthcare costs. It has numerous benefits including smoking cessation and body weight, and cholesterol and blood pressure management. It can also decrease depression in patients who have suffered a major cardiac event. Furthermore, it has been shown to reduce hospital readmission and mortality. Astonishingly, we live in a catchment area and function as a community hospital in a virtual desert of cardiac rehabilitative services for the 625,000 people that reside in our Bushwick community.
Patients who have experienced a cardiac event within our catchment area and who received excellent clinical cardiac care at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center with highly successful outcomes, are left to search in an environment devoid of accessible and available cardiac rehabilitative services in this community before being directed to services that are logistically difficult to access for this critical recovery process.
Please save the date and join us on the evening of October 18, 2024 at Russo’s On The Bay to launch the awakening from this healthcare nightmare and make the dream of accessible, available high-quality cardiac rehabilitative services in our Bushwick community a reality. We are asking you to not only save the date for an exciting, exhilarating and meaningful evening at our gala, but to pledge with us and commit to build, staff and operate the finest local-based and accessible cardiac rehabilitative facility at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.
